Meeting on Nov. 17

Your Governance Committee met on Nov. 17th at 11:00am.

There were 6 committee members and 2 community members present.

The following topics were discussed during this meeting:

1) The meeting started with a discussion of a concern brought up by a community member on Facebook Issues & Concerns. The community member was concerned that the Governance Committees BLOG was hosted on a public site, and linked from the public Lake Heritage site.

-The Committee agreed that there was no need for concern. No information shared on the BLOG is not considered private.

2) The committee clarified the collection of input form submissions.

-The committee member in charge of the collection of paper forms and the committee member in charge of digital forms will exchange at every meeting to ensure there are two copies of every submission. A copy of both types will be photocopied and given to the committee chair and to The BOD.

3) The committee talked about the community meeting on Mon. Nov. 14th

-A few members may have shown-up angry, but the committee feels confident that everyone left knowing that nothing has been decided, and that the committee is doing it’s best to work through a difficult and complicated process with the community’s best interests at heart.

-A few committee members brought up that some community members appear confused between our task of making rules and the later role of enforcement. The committee feels that although we have to consider the Community’s ability to enforce rules, it is not our job to direct how they will be enforced.

4) The committee discussed if/when we should we have a 3rd community meeting.

-December is a busy time for people

-A meeting would not be necessary until we have more work done

-We don’t want to waste people’s time

5) The committee discussed the upcoming BOD elections and possible rethinking of committees. This may affect our roles.

6) Dec. 1 is cut off for input forms

7) The committee discussed if we can start responding to people on certain topics when we know the reply? Agreement was made:

-We need to have one (1) voice.

-We don’t want people to feel they aren’t being listened to

-Each slip (paper or digital) will get an email reply from Richard in December

8) The committee then discussed Articles IX through XIV. Please see the respective article’s BLOG entries for information on the committee's discussion of each.
