Meeting on Nov 30

Your Governance Committee met today at 10:00 am with four (4) committee members present.

Future meetings were scheduled on 12/15, 12/29, & 1/10. All meetings scheduled for 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The Public Relations and Information (PR&I) Committee requested this committee’s input on their discussion regarding rules surrounding the “sandwich board(s)” used at the front gate. Interest has been made about making a rule (or rules) regarding the use of the sandwich board(s) by clubs to advertise special events. The Governance Committee notes that they have not addressed this portion of the rules, yet, but would recommend creating flexibility in any rules surrounding signage at the front gate. The Governance Committee feels The current Board of Directors should have the ability to create and enforce policy regarding signage without hindrance of strict rules.

The Governance Committee would also ask The PR&I Committee and The Board of Directors to consider expanding the avenues in which official clubs can communicate with community members. Suggestions included expanding the capabilities of The Lake Heritage Website so that each club has a page they can edit. The sandwich boards (or other signage) could then be limited (by policy not rule) to simple notifications directing community members to their web-page for more more information instead of needing to fit all the information on the sandwich board.

The Governance Committee revisited Article XIV Section 4 (Vehicles on Private Lots.) This section was discussed at the last meeting, and the committee members agreed to table the discussion to allow for reflection and research. Please see the blog entry titled, “A: XIV S:4 REVISIT” for notes on the discussion held.

The remainder of the committee’s meeting was dedicated to Article XIV Section 6 (Commercial Vehicles.) This section has created a lot of interest in the community and in the committee. Please see the blog entry titled “A:XIV S:6 - Commercial Vehicles” for notes on the discussion held. Please note the committee has tabled part of this discussion as it was decided more research was needed.
